Although coal is a nonrenewable energy source it has been utilized for hundreds of years. Historically America’s economic progress has been linked to coal. Before distribution into the industrial, commercial and residential arenas, coal was used during the colonial period, powered the Industrial Revolution and fueled the two World Wars.
The Energy Information Administration’s “2007 Annual Energy Review” ranked coal as the number one energy source for generating electricity in the United States and its production and myriad of uses continue to grow.
MATE’s engineers and designers provide specialty services for companies who perform coal mining, coal reclamation and coal preparation plant services. One of the first MATRIC and MATE collaborative projects involved a project for the coal industry. This project for Patriot Coal involved a combination of MATRIC and MATE’s technical expertise to design.
